Las Vegas  Accommodation

Some things to consider before you book a room in Las Vegas

Las Vegas hotels: what to know
Las Vegas hotel rates vary enormously but one constant is that hotel rooms cost more on weekends. Rates also tend to go up and down depending on demand with few bargains available, for example, when a big convention or sports event is being held.

At other times there are sometimes astonishing deals but it may be necessary to consult the travel pages of a US newspaper - the Sunday edition of the Los Angeles Times is good - to find them. That is where you will also find ads listing free 800 telephone numbers and such websites as Vegas.com and hotels.com which sometimes offer a choice of as many as 100 hotels from $30 per night. As a rule, downtown Las Vegas is cheaper than the Strip but there are often comparable bargains to be found on the latter, too.

Most large hotels have smoking and non-smoking floors. Be sure to ask when reserving a room.

Motels in Las Vegas
There are many properties offering rooms and suites, gaming and other entertainment at lower rates than the huge hotels and mega-resorts. Perimeter hotels in the greater Las Vegas area have become popular with locals and visitors who want to enjoy what the resorts have to offer without having to deal with the traffic and the crowds on the Strip. Some are very upscale and most have similar amenities offered by the Strip resorts.
